VLSI Physical Design
The Fundamentals of VLSI Physical Design course is designed to build a strong foundation in the backend implementation flow of ASIC/SoC design. This program introduces students to the core concepts, methodologies, and practical aspects of the RTL-to-GDSII physical design process.
The course covers essential topics such as design flow overview, floor planning basics, placement concepts, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing fundamentals, timing concepts, power planning, and introduction to physical verification (DRC/LVS). Students gain exposure to industry-standard EDA tools and learn how logical design is transformed into a manufacturable silicon layout.
With a focus on conceptual clarity and practical understanding, the program prepares students for advanced physical design roles and serves as a steppingstone toward specialized backend implementation training in the semiconductor industry.
